１１月最後のお稽古は初炭手前でした
炭手前の稽古は普段、なかなかできません。
私達の使用している炉は電熱の置き炉なので、炭手前に関しては色々工夫しながらお稽古してます。
羽箒（はぼうき）で初掃き、中掃き、後掃きの所作。灰器から灰匙で灰を掬って灰をまく。
炭にもそれぞれ名前がついているので名称を覚えながら。
後炭は炭の燃え具合で臨機応変に炭をいれますが、初炭ではそれぞれの炭を置く場所が定められています。
普段の生活では炭を身近に見られない昨今、好奇心をくすぐるお手前です。
The last practice in Nobember was the shozumi demae (first of two procedures to add charcoal to the fire.)
This practice is not something we can usually do. Since our “ro” is an electric-heated hearth, various ideas are employed during practice with this charcoal procedure. Using a feather broom, there are movements for the first sweeping, middle sweeping, and final sweeping. Ash is scooped from the ash container with an ash ladle and scattered. Each type of charcoal also has its own name, and these names are learned during the practice. While the subsequent charcoal placement are adjusted based on the burning condition of the charcoal, during the initial charcoal placement, the locations for each type of charcoal are predetermined. In today’s life, where charcoal is not commonly seen, this practice arouses curiosity.
