Tea Lesson in Osaka

I had a tea lesson at the home of my new tea ceremony teacher in Osaka, a close friend of my long time teacher, Hayashi sensei. Her grandmother and mother were also tea ceremony teachers, and I had the pleasure of admiring the various exquisite tools that have been passed down. Among them were numerous Tenmoku tea bowls, a calligraphy scroll by the Grand Master, incense containers, and more. Also there was a fan with the phrase “Dragon Spitting out the Pearl,” personally written by the Grand Master. This signifies that enlightened leaders always speak of a transparent truth without impurities.
