毎年恒例の日本祭が今年もレイバーデーホリデー期間中、９月２日３日４日と３日間、ミズーリボタニカルガーデンで開催されました。
私たちは２日と３日にお茶のデモンストレーションを披露しました。
約一か月間はデモンストレーションの御園棚のお稽古に集中して、だれもが亭主側、客側でも対応できるように練習してきました。
今年は３００人以上収容できる新しい会場でしたので、１週間前に出入口が反対になることが判明。水屋の位置に伴い、御園棚の位置も予定していた位置と正反対になる、あるいはプログラムの変更により、セットアップ、クリーンアップの時間が大幅に削減されるなど、色々なハプニングがありましたが、お茶の精神の一つ『寂』の心で、臨機応変に予期せぬことに騒がず慌てず対処し、２日とも満席の中、社中一丸となって見事、大成功の裡に終えることができました。
We presented the tea ceremony at the annual Japanese Festival at the Missouri Botanical Garden Labor Day weekend, September 2nd to the 4th.
All our students practiced diligently for this event as a host, hanto, and guests.
This year, the demonstration hall was at the Garden’s new venue space, accommodating more than three hundred people. There were many challenges experienced, such as changing the entrance and location of our misonodana tables. Last-minute program changes also resulted in significantly reduced setup and cleanup time. Despite unexpected incidents, we completed the two-day demonstrations successfully with the spirit of “jaku (tranquility)” one of the four main principles of the tea ceremony.
