The days have been hot in St. Louis. More than 90 degrees. So I decided to practice the Habuta-Demae. A summer season’s procedure to make my students feel cooler. Instead of a pot’s solid lid, we used a natural leaf, big enough to cover the Mizusashi. In Japan, we usually use leaves from a B.papyrifera, Lotus or Taro plant. Because it’s difficult to find such plants in St. Louis, I used a hosta leaf growing in our garden for our practice. This summer lid of green brought a cool breeze to our practice!
