もう何年間か毎月練り切りを作っていますので、思い浮かぶのは例年作っている朝顔、向日葵、夏空…
結局、紫の朝顔にしました。緑のゼリーの葉をつけたら、それらしく見えてきました。
９日に純心庵に６名のお客様を迎えますので、その分も用意して、準備万端です。アメリカ人のお客様にもmorning gloryと分かっていただけるかな？
On the last day of July, after a special morning practice on gyō-no-gyō daisu furo, we made sweets for August (Hazuki) in the afternoon.
We’ve been making nerikiri sweets every month for several years now, so the usual seasonal motifs come to mind — morning glories, sunflowers, summer skies…
In the end, we decided on purple morning glories. Once we added green jelly leaves, they started to look like the flower.
We’ll be welcoming six guests to Junshin-an on the 9th, so we have sweets for them and are all set.
I wonder if our American guests will recognize them as morning glories?
