WashUの剣道クラブ、Japan Pier Clubより依頼を受け、お茶の歴史や精神、また”道”についてのレクチャー及び薄茶風炉点前のデモンストレーションを披露しました。
４０名近くの学生さんの参加でそのうちの２０名にお菓子とお茶をお点てしました。
デモの後にもたくさんの質問があり、ここセントルイスの大学生たちの日本文化への関心の深さを改めて感じました。
Around forty students joined our tea demonstration requested by Kendo Club and Japan Pier Club at Washington University. Followed by a lecture about the philosophy, history, and spirit of the tea ceremony, our students and I demonstrated furo usucha demae.
After serving tea and sweets to twenty students, we received a lot of thoughtful questions about the tea ceremony from them, which showed their keen interest in Japanese culture.
