A guest from Japan

We had two sisters join our Junshi-an today. An older sister who lives in Japan is visiting her younger sister. The visiting sister was delighted to experience a traditional Japanese culture “Cha no yu” in the United State.
Considering the hot mid summer weather, we served the thin tea with habuta (using a green leaf as a lid for mizusashi) and araijakin temae (wringing the chakin out in a bowl of cool water in front of the guests) to suggest the coolness in the tea room.
The main sweet was matcha daifuku and the picture of the scroll was of a goldfish. Sensei chose a pink “rose of Sharon” just starting to bloom from her garden for the alcove.
